Skype me up to the stars! (Virtual Performances – laboratory for virtual theatre) (2009)   “Skype me up to the stars!” is the second work from the “Virtual Performances” laboratory. It consisted in a Skype transmission from Córdoba and Buenos Aires to Leipzig, for the commemoration of the International Year of Astronomy. The transmission from Córdoba was held at the Astronomical Observatory Museum of the National University, with participation of an actor who played astronomer. On the other side an actress-astrologer participated from a café in Buenos Aires. At the location of the audience, Leipzig, the piece generally pretended to be a lecture on the subject of Astronomy, which over time became increasingly fictional. During the first part of the set there was a small exhibition with related objects, and two “experts” were invited from Argentina to discuss the topic, with whom viewers could contact individually via Skype. Later on, the event was shown on a large screen, keeping its documentary-scientific character, always in a spirit of public interaction and maintaining a relationship with the place of transmission. PROYECTO CONFESIONARIOS – Construyendo un mapa emocional de la ciudad (PROJECT CONFESSIONALS – creating an emotional map of the city) (2008 – 2012)   The confessional, normally understood as a reserved and private place, as a place for redemption and intimacy, here becomes an exposed one, visible to everyone. The public sphere is confronted with the intimacy, the hidden things come into sight. Is private confession possible in a public space? A confessional, put in public spaces, an object that contrasts with reality, taken out of its original context. A booth where you listen to “urban confessions,” and become absorbed by the details of daily life. A confessional is placed in determined zones of the city where a spectator sits down, but rather than making a confession, he’s here to listen to “urban confessions” in order to find the emotional tracks left by the pedestrians in their city. PROJECT CONFESSIONALS seeks to find and trace the emotional tracks of the residents of a city, covering the urban landscape with a web of intimate memories and personal confessions, creating an alternative map – a form of emotional cartography. Through interviews and, to the extent possible, local calls for entries, “urban confessions” are compiled from city/neighbourhood residents. These concern never-told events that occurred in the determined spaces of the city, for example in a specific quarter of the city. These “confessions” don’t necessarily concern sin or immorality, but rather private, intimate occurrences that are linked to specific points in a location: a conversation at a table in that bar, a memory of a meeting in this plaza, something strange that happened at this corner. Most important is that the confessions always have a concrete relationship to a specific space, thus creating coordinates to trace this emotional map together with the residents of this urban habitat. The confessionals are positioned in the space where these events took place, as narrated in the confessions. homo-migrator.www (Virtual Performances – laboratory for virtual theatre) (2011)   The project Virtual Performances – virtual laboratory for theatre was born in 2008 and consists of a series of virtual-theatrical interventions via online videoconference. homo-migrator.www revolves around the issue of migration in general and in relation to the world wide web (www.): Migration of people, but also migration of data, goods, information. Video-chat has become the main communication tool of the migrant. The world wide web is a medium that seems to have become essential for buying, selling, communicating, showing off, and even deceiving each other. Four actors, some of whom are migrants, others with relatives abroad, interact with the audience via Skype from their places of residence. What does it mean to be in another place, what is a foreigner, in the age of cyberspace?   This work was produced with the support of the artistic residency of Nau Côclea, Camallera, Spain (2010) and has the support of the National Endowment for the Arts (2011). eRRor – un juego con tra(d)ición (eRRor – a game of tradition and treason) (Non-fictional theatre) (2011 – 2014)   An actor and geneticist, together with an actress who is also an activist for the villages being fumigated in real life, play a game where chance and error play a key role. On a board based on “Monopoly”, participants move through different squares, where their fate is decided. Soy production, small town life, theatre, activism and biotechnology all come together to create a cocktail between fiction and reality. The work was developed out of a call for entries in late 2010 by the Goethe Institute Cordoba concerning ERROR in its various meanings. We were among those selected, with a project that revolves around questions of error and the cultivation of GM crops in Argentina. Using techniques of documentary theatre and with a biting satirical outlook, we approach a current issue that is relevant not just at the regional level, but also from a national and international standpoint: the problem of fumigated villages in the province of Cordoba, national policies and an economy dependent on agricultural exports, multinational companies in the biotechnology sector, and control of the global food market.   This work formed part of the series of performances “[Symbolic] Materialization of error”, organized by the Goethe Institute Córdoba, and was awarded a production subsidy from the Province and the National Theatre Institute (2011).   Participated at: – 1. OTRA FRECUENCIA – audioperformance de a dos (OTHER FREQUENCY – audioperformance for two) (2010 – 2016)   An interactive work for two people. Each couple / pair listen with headphones to the instructions of four fictional characters. The piece combines suspense, intrigue and science fiction. The spectators themselves are the actors, each of which, although in pairs, take very different trips, with their perception of the world constantly being put in doubt. To enter, just put the headphones in and press “play” in the mp3 player. From now on, each spectator / par ticipant enters the world of a virtual character, both of whom have a mission that involves the other.   This performance was presented in: – International Festival Cena CumpliCidades. URBANOTOPIAS DE LA INFANCIA (Obra sonora interactiva para niños (y adultos)) (Urbanotopías of childhood – Interactive audio adventure for children (and adults)) together with Plataforma Averso / Daniel Gonzalez Xavier (2016)   One day at dawn, at the top of the hill of the neighborhood Cerro Barón in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, an octopus wakes up inside a shipping container. How did he get in there? When he leaves the container, the octopus finds objects left behind by the children who had played in the site the previous day, some papers with mysterious clues: a treasure hunt!? Being highly curious, the octopus decides to follow the clues and discovers the neighborhood from the children’s perspective – until finding the final point of the treasure hunt: his own shipping container. This kind of fantastic audioguide was created based on the experience of a two-day workshop with boys and girls from different neighborhoods of Valparaiso. We worked and played with them in relation to the urban space, implementing theatrical exercises, listening to urban soundscapes, collective mapping and a treasure hunt. The project seeks to investigate, in a playful and sensitive way, the relationship between the inhabitants and their neighborhood as well as stimulating a creative imaginary.   “Urbanotopías of childhood” is the result of the production residency during ‘Festival Teatro Container’ in Valparaíso (Chile) which we realized together with Plataforma Averso / Daniel Gonzalez Xavier (Brazil). LA NUBE (THE CLOUD) (Scenic Audiotour) (2013 – 2015)   Strange symptoms are appearing in the city, caused by an unknown phenomenon: the colour of the sky on some days, a faint buzzing sound, people’s behaviour… Bizarre incidents are occurring, with citizens acting as if under the power of a huge imperceptible remote control… An invisible cloud enshrouds the city… Carla is one of the victims of these inexplicable phenomena. But she is more involved than she thinks. Mauro, an old friend of hers, returns to the country after a long time away, trying to unravel the mystery. He suspects that his former professor Vicente Ludi has something to do with what is happening. Meanwhile, the Omega Resistance is preparing to take action… What is THE CLOUD? How is it controlled? And how can it be stopped? We’ll have to follow these characters along their paths through the city to find answers…   What is a Scenic Audiotour? A reduced group of spectators receives headphones and mp3-players in order to follow some characters on their way along a street in the city, accompanied by the voices of strange narrators.   THE CLOUD is the continuation of the artistic search of “The Salesman”, a piece also based on the Scenic Audiotour format. In this format the actors / characters walk along the streets of a city and interact with the space and its inhabitants. A reduced group of spectators follows them in their experiences, listening with an mp3 and headphones to a voice that narrates their story. This narration adds a literary aura to the piece, while at the same time introducing us to the thoughts of the characters and the acoustic climate that surrounds them. EL VIAJANTE (Audiotour Escénico) (THE SALESMAN – Scenic Audiotour) (2009 – …)   He knows it: This is the end, the last day. He dreamt it last night, and the dream was clear: This day will be the last. It has come full circle…Everything he does, he will do for the last time… We accompany the SALESMAN on his last day. We were summoned by the COMPANY. The end is near. A tornado threatens the city. But you can still save yourselves.   A reduced group of spectators receives headphones and mp3-players in order to follow a man on his way along a street in the city. They’re accompanied by the voice of a strange narrator who tries to reveal the enigmatic character. The Salesman is a piece with a principal character who walks along the streets of a city and interacts with the space and its habitants. A reduced group of spectators follows him in his experiences, listening with an mp3 and headphones to a voice that narrates his story. This narration adds a literary aura to the piece, while at the same time introducing us to the thoughts of the character and the acoustic climate that surrounds him. The scenic concept is about experimenting with cinematic narration with a voice-over about a fictional character in a real and tangible urban space. The city is the stage setting for this experience, which has so far been held in 4 cities. The first went under the name “Construindo João” in Crato, Brazil (2009) of a fully documentary nature; the second was held in Berlin under the name “Der Handlungsreisende” (The Salesman) (2010) and was entirely fictional. Finally, the third, set in Sorocaba (Brazil, 2012), merged both elements together. In 2018 we resumed the project to present it at the Sudaka Festival in Quito (Ecuador). We made a completely new edition, integrating interactive elements for the audience. CONECTADOS (un proyecto de teatro documental) (CONNECTED – a documentary theatre project) together with Cía Puctum (2011)   5 immigrants in the Matadero neighbourhood of Madrid reveal their relationships with their countries of origin, through the internet. A Colombian couple holds the record for uninterrupted video-conference communication, with 68 hours. A Bengali watches his baby of 20 months grow up daily over skype. From Senegal a mother sends a video message with advice for her son. A Colombian actress connects to Brazil to consult the clairvoyant grandmother of her child. And the rhythm of a Dominican rapper manages to shorten the distances.   “Conectados” is the result of the residence of Cía Puctum with BiNeural-MonoKultur in El Ranchito (Matadero Madrid) (October to December 2011) and is part of “Virtual Performances – virtual theatre laboratory” consisting of a series of virtual-theatre interventions via online videoconferencing. RECONSTRUCCIÓN – el modus operandi de las imágenes (RECONSTRUCTION – the modus operandi of images) (Interactive Performance) (2013 – 2018)   RECONSTRUCTION emerged from the invitation to participate in the series of performances called “EN VIVO” (Live) curated by Sofia Medici in Buenos Aires. We have created an interactive performance that includes the participation of the public. It involves reconstructing the real facts through published images / photographs. Some of the viewers receive numbers and will be summoned with that number to reconstruct the images. To do this, they have to follow the instructions that they receive by loudspeaker, without knowing which image they are reconstructing. When the (re-)composition is finished, a photo is taken and then compared against the original image. Then a text is shown on the projector explaining the circumstances of the original photo (what had occurred, where and when it happened). It is about reflecting, with the viewer-participant’s own body, on what could have happened in the original real situation, as well as analyzing the composition of the record of that fact: what we can learn from the bodies, expressions, positions etc. In this reconstruction process, we deal with the reality represented in images. A reality that, when it reaches us, has already been mediated, manipulated and distorted at the moment it was captured in photo. But we also reflect on the fact documented in the image and what effect it has on the bodies of the participating audience. We work with images of different political, historical and social events that were recorded by the media. These include both images known internationally, and some that have a more regional importance. In the reconstruction “sessions” we work with emblematic images related to different recent historical issues or we focuse on specific issues (and we use not just photographs but also other forms of record taking, such as painting), por example: – commemorating the date of the University Reform of 1918 in Córdoba, we worked on rebellions and revolutions (2015) – on the bicentennial anniversary of the Argentine Declaration of Independence, we developed reconstructions of images related to independence (in a broad sense) (2016) – on the occasion of the anniversary of the German reunification, we worked on the wall beginning with the end of the Second World War until the fall of the wall (2017) (this last presentation took place in the German School of Córdoba and in German).   Presentations: – Pedagogical University “Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán“, San Pedro Sula (Honduras).
